Phonics

RWI Set-1-Sounds-PowerPoint

RWI set_3_sounds_Powerpoint

There are some videos at the bottom of the page of Set 2 and Set 3 sounds being taught. Below each video you will find some activity sheets working on the sound in the video.

We recommend the app ‘Teach your monster to read’ which is currently free to download.

Please also follow the MyOn link our our main school learning portal page to find lots of fantastic books to read covering a range of interests. There is an option for these to be read to you out loud like an audio book if they are too long to read on your own.

Here are some games you might like to play at home to practise phonics and reading:

  • I hear with my little ear – you don’t need to be able to see the object but sound it out.
  • The alphabet game – can you name an animal for every letter of the alphabet?
  • Phonic scavenger hunt – find objects starting with a specific letter sound
  • mystery bag – without your child seeing place a range of objects starting with the same letter sound in a bag or pillow case and ask them to identify what the sound was by feeling the objects blind folded (you can use a scarf for this or eyes shut)
